I know...odd blog post title, I'll splain...
For many years we have tried to figure out a safe bed for our daughter. After the most recent "Screaming/Gran mal", I was at my wits end to find something that daughter could fall out of, and be safe.
While chatting with my quilty friend Ang (who is an awesome EMT and RN student), she suggested putting the bed on the floor like nursing homes do with thier seizure/falling type patients. It was like a light bulb went off in my head! Why didnt we think of that before? Geezzzz....
So, off to RC Willey I went. Bought a low profile box spring, and a cushy pillow top mattress. Daughter can now safely roll off her bed onto the super thick carpet (newly installed), and not hurt herself! YAY!
Pic is of new bed and a quilt I designed about 10 yrs. ago when I 1st began quiltmaking...

Love the quilt you designed for your sweet daughter!
I am over the moon that Ang suggested such a helpful method of giving a soft landing place beside your daughter's bed. Decades ago when our sons were small, I made a batting stuffed "bear" made of fake fur for our older son who had graduated to a big boy bed. If he rolled overboard, he landed on the soft bear (made following a fabric shop pattern by McCall's or Simplicity).
Am making Christmas gifts so have no UFO progress to report myself.
Cheers!
The bed looks perfect for your daughter. Comfy and safe. And I love her quilt.
Glad you found a safe landing zone for your daughter! Thank you for dropping by my place. You asked about my red chenile. Penney's sold them about 5 years ago. I was blessed to not only get my spread, but my mom had ordered one as well. When she tired of hers she gave it to me! Yaay! New follower. Have a blessed weekend.
